Hell - West & Crooked Railroad
The original model railroad was designed and constructed by the late Cecil Vaughn
of Akron, OH. Built in the basement of his home. Though all of the original
equipment was sold off after his death, I was able to obtain one hopper car painted
and lettered by Mr. Vaughn, and it still runs today on my HW&C RR. As one of the
founding fathers of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) Mr. Vaughn
was instrumental in introducing this interesting hobby to me, a kid just 13 years old.
My Hell - West & Crooked Railroad
My layout is a mythical switching railroad, dated around 1945. It is also a part of
the Great Northern Railway branch line, which runs between Boulder and Basin
Station, Montana, which is between Butte and Helena, Montana. Steam and Diesel locomotives can be seen working the many industries along the railway.
The layout encompasses the 8 miles of track in that area. This is located south of
Havre and Great Falls, Montana and east of Spokane, Washington.
