The Elk River Logging R.R. has many scenery photo ops. The layout is HO/HOn3 dual gauge, with hand laid track, trestle bridges, switch backs and tons of handmade trees. Mostly geared locos with small logging trains share trackage with scratch built and craftsman structures, many of which are Fine Scale Miniature. Hand painted backdrops and DCC with sound finish off the layout.
The Snug Harbor RR is through the wall from the Elk River Logging RR. 30 feet, “C” shaped HO/HON3 seaport layout in progress, track work is almost in and wiring started. Many buildings are finished including The Red Hook Wharf and other craftsman kits. Some scenery will be done and also another of Lucy’s backdrops. Geared and small rod engines are being used on these layouts. Both railroads are of the 20’s time period.
Tom’s layout was the subject of the feature article in the April, 2014 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman.
